Free licenses for test reports

Drop-In Sky & Weather and Drop-In Water are on the Unity Asset Store. Test one on hardware we haven't covered, and the license is yours.

Both are for Unity 6.3 or newer with URP and a GPU with compute shaders. Drop-In Sky & Weather is a physically based sky with volumetric clouds, atmospheric fog, rain, snow and lightning, and the real sun, moon and stars: add it to a scene and it becomes the skybox and lights the scene. Drop-In Water gives a scene an ocean to the horizon, lakes and rivers, with shorelines baked from your terrain, rivers that dig their own bed, underwater views, floating objects and water queries for gameplay (no VR in version 1).

We've tested both on NVIDIA GPUs under Windows, in Unity 6.3 and 6.6. Up to 10 free licenses per asset go to people who test them on what we haven't covered yet, and tell us how it went.

Who we're looking for

AMD, Intel and Apple GPUs; Direct3D 11, Vulkan and Metal; macOS and Linux; Unity 6.4 to 6.7; and your own scenes. For the sky, also the Deferred and Deferred+ renderers and real PC VR headsets (multi-pass above all); for the water, coasts made of meshes or scans, rivers into lakes or the sea, boats, and gameplay code that reads the water.

What you do

Add the asset to one of your scenes, in a copy of your project, and within two weeks send us a short report: your hardware and settings, screenshots, what broke or looked wrong and, if you can, two short Unity Profiler captures of a development build. About 1 to 2 hours for the sky, 2 to 3 for the water, plus your build time.

What you get

The license, yours to keep; credit in the asset's documentation and changelog if you want it; and fixes for what you find. The license never depends on a review, and we never ask for one.

How to apply

Email us which asset you'd test (or both), your GPU, operating system, Unity version and graphics API, and in one line what you'd test it on. We pick for coverage, not first come, first served, answer within a few days, and send the license as an Asset Store voucher. The offer runs until the licenses are gone.

The Terrain Renderer beta

Our third asset, the Drop-In Terrain Renderer, goes into beta later: we'll announce it here.
